Putting this compilation together filled our hearts and brought back so many memories of the moms that we had the honor of supporting through their reflux journey.
When a family finds us they are usually at the "This is my last hope" stage. We know it's a bit unusual to work with a doctor online and get a diagnosis and medications from the internet and these families trusted us enough to give it a try. That's HUGE and we're not only grateful that they trusted us but also that they took the time to tell their stories for other families to see.
Thanks to you mama's and dad's for trusting us with your baby's health.

PPI Treatment Studies. The truth about how they are done and why it may not be as scary to use them as you think.
Nexium is one of the more popular PPIs and every body knows it as the purple pill. It’s a well branded product. Although all PPIs work in the same manner there are some slight nuances that make them different.
With Nexium it is a good alternative if you’re not looking for an immediate release PPI. Meaning you have to wait 1 hour before or after a meal to take a dose otherwise the food will compromise the integrity of the medication and it won’t work as well. It also takes a lot more time to work.
Zegerid is the only immediate release PPI on the market (actually i think there are some generic versions now) and immediate release means you can take the medication anytime and it will work immediately. Usually within 10 mins.
The other variation when it comes to Nexium is it’s VERY BITTER. This isn’t a big deal if you’re an adult because you don’t actually taste the medication. It’s swallowed in pill or capsule form and you never taste the actual medicine.
With babies it’s different. You have to give the medication in a powder form and they taste every bit of that medicine. YUCKY!
This is one of the reasons we don’t suggest using Nexium when you are sending your script to a compounding pharmacy or whether you use a home compounding kit like TC Max. The medication is just too bitter.
Plain old generic Omeprazole tends to be the one PPI that has the least amount of side effects and is the most cost effective.
I hope this helps all you families out there with questions about use of Nexium for your baby’s reflux PPI treatment.
Thank you! Dr. PJeffrey Phillips Pharm D
In this business we get to come across some pretty amazing people and families. Yes they typically arrive to us broken, upset, desperate and confused. But what an amazing experience to see all of that change and to know you had a small part in providing support and help to get them past that and make a bad situation so much more livable and in some cases even great. We get to experience happy baby pictures, smiles and gratitude and if we are fortunate enough, we get a note or feedback from the family explaining their journey through reflux hell.
It really it all about the families and who doesn’t want to help a baby?
Every once in a while you get to work with someone really outstanding. This is a shout out to Erin Heitshusen for being that outstanding someone.
For the last year and half this company ran into some pretty challenging times. There were people that were against us and some that were for us but there was one lady who tireless stood right next to us. Erin! This group has continued on because of this young woman and her passion for helping you all. She has answered questions and supported you all with patience and understanding and tons of compassion and has given even when it was at the expense of her own personal time.
I have to admit that even in my most difficult times she gave me hope and a compassionate ear to listen to me and my struggles to get this company back on track. You just can’t buy that kind of support. I am honored to know her and even more honored to have her with us, running this group.
Families, please let’s acknowledge her and support her by giving a big THANK YOU to a very special lady.
Thank you Erin

We get to talk to a lot of families and walk their reflux journey with them. Many times it's a confusing and scary journey because there are so many treatment alternatives and many that conflict. We get it. How the heck do you make a decision when you've got moms telling you natural cures, then there is the mom shaming, doctors saying they will out grow it and telling you that you are an overreacting mama (or dad). It literally breaks my heart to hear some of the things that are said to these struggling families.
We tend to be the resource to the families that have tried everything and haven't gotten any relief for their baby and now they are desperate and will do anything to help and believe me we are happy to help.
There is no mistake about what we offer as treatment. We want families to get their baby out of pain and do it quickly and keep them out of pain for the very, very short time they are going to experience reflux disease so the baby can be healthy and both baby and family can be happy. We do this with VERY safe medications called proton pump inhibitors and we use a regimen called MarciKids dosing.
IT WORKS - if you stick to the regimen!
Which leads me to the reason for my title of the article. ALL IN or ALL OUT!You really have to make a decision to treat your baby using MarciKids or don't use it at all and there are many reasons why which I am going to explain right now.
It's like taking 1/2 an aspirin for a massive headache knowing that the required dose to get rid of the headache is 2 aspirin. 1/2 an aspirin isn't going to help. Well in the case of giving a PPI to a baby, giving a low dose once a day is not only going to do nothing but it can make things WORSE by causing an Acid Rebound! Yes it is true that sometimes things can get worse before they get better. But you have to get to the other side.
There is a link on the site that explains the acid battle. When you don't give the full dose you are literally holding the treatment in partial limbo and never getting to the other side of treatment. This is painful to the baby and no matter how painful the acid reflux disease is, if you are not going to commit to treatment the way it was intended it's best to deal with the disease without PPI treatment. We are not trying to be harsh at all (that is not our way)...but in this case partial treatment is not helpful. “Do or do not do” as Yoda would say.
