My son was 2.5 months old when we started him on TummyCare Max with Omeprazole at the Marci Kids dosing.
He was born 6.5 weeks early, and he started having feeding problems around 6 weeks old. He would arch and grunt and clench his whole body during feedings, as well as sputter and choke while having a REALLY hard time just getting the milk down. Eventually the symptoms got more severe and he started screaming all the way through his feedings. He could barely get down 2 ounces most of the time and each feeding would take 30-40 minutes.
We tried everything-burping every 10 ml, upright position, different bottles, different formulas, etc. We went to the doctor several times and she first said it sounded like reflux and prescribed us Zantac, which did absolutely nothing. She then put him on 1ml once/day of a 2mg/ml prescription of Prevacid, compounded at the pharmacy. This also did nothing, seriously no change. So the doctor then told me to take out milk and soy from my diet, which I did, with no change.
Every day started to get super stressful and I would dread feeding him because I hated seeing him struggle so much and it was so hard to get him to eat enough! The last visit to the doctor she basically shrugged her shoulders and said she didn't know what it was and that it was probably just something he was going to have to grow out of.
I had been doing research online and read about TummyCare Max, and strongly believed my son had silent reflux, so after that visit to the doctor I ordered it and started marci kids dosing with omeprazole as soon as it arrived. At first his feedings were a bit better, but there was a large increase of spitting up, he was a little more fussy, and had a hard time sleeping. BUT this only lasted until day 7 or 8 of him being on the medicine! This was happening due to the acid battle and I questioned giving up and stopping the medicine but I stuck it out and I'm glad I did!
After 14 days on the medicine, his symptoms during feeding have almost completely disappeared! He now eats like a "normal" baby, and is up to 4 ounces at a time! He can even finish a bottle in 10-15 minutes now which is amazing! His sleeping is back to normal and he is even starting to sleep longer at each interval, going from 3 hours at a time to 4 or 5. He doesn't scream or cry after feedings. I can sometimes hear a little reflux after eating, but it doesn't bother him anymore, which is how I know that TCM is working and the acid is now under control (that is how the medicine is designed to work- doesn't stop reflux just reduces stomach acid so its not painful).
He does still have gas but we work it out with massages, warm baths, and the "windi." In my opinion, Gas is much easier to deal with than reflux and it only gets bad 1-2 times a week.
Just wanted to post my experience with TummyCare Max and say that I am so grateful for it and the information!! Thank you!!
